Davao City. The Final Stop.

We are now on our final day of adventure and Davao City is our final stop. We chose Davao City as our final stop because 2 of my friends needs to go back to Manila to work and Davao City has earlier flights to Manila compared to Butuan City. So after almost 5 hours of travel from San Franz, Agusan Del Sur, we finally arrived at Davao City a few minutes past 12 in the morning. One of my friend was already at the pension house because she didn’t joined us at Tinuy-an Falls due to the long cut or injury she incurred 2 days ago at Sohoton. We took a taxi to Alta Pension House and a few minutes later, we were at the pension house. By the way, the San Franz in Agusan Del Sur is the shortened name for the town called San Francisco. People are used to using the name San Franz instead of the full name which is San Francisco.

Davao Crocodile Park

On our 5th day of travel, it’s going to be just a city tour day. Our itinerary for the day was just a city tour of Davao City. Past 7am na din ako natulog because I finished a project for my online client. I woke up at around 11am and then after taking a bath, we then proceeded to Ateneo de Davao for a quick visit and we took our lunch at their food court. Presyong studyante kasi kaya dun kami kumain para makatipid.hahaha! Then after having a quick tour at ADDU, pumunta na kami sa Aldevinco for some souvenir shopping. We spend just an hour for shopping since we still want to go to Davao Crocodile Park

Ateneo De Davao University

After we have bought souvenirs, pumunta na din kami sa Davao Crocodile Park. We only have until 5pm because our extension at the pension house was up to 5pm only. The crocodile park is about 15 to 20 minutes taxi ride from Ateneo and the fare was just 120 pesos. The thing I liked about Davao City is how the taxi drivers treat their customers. Magagalang sila at susuklian ka talaga to the last piso at mahihiya ka na lang na huwag na lang kunin ang coins na sukli. They also have a large name or identification card na nakalagay sa windshield. Sana ganun din ang mga taxi sa Manila and sa other parts ng Pilipinas.

curiosity!

So anyway, at the crocodile park, we paid 150 pesos for the entrance fee. Actually, there are a lot of attraction sa park but we didn’t bother to visit all of them due to the lack of time. So a few hours later, we then decided to leave the place because we need to get back to the pension house.
We arrived at the pension house at around 6pm and the good thing was they didn’t charge us any extra for that time extension. After we took our bags at our room we then proceeded to Gaisano Mall to eat our dinner. Nasa harap lang kasi ng pension house ang Gaisano so it was convenient for us. Yung flight ng mga kaibigan ko was 9pm so they need to leave for the airport before 8pm kasi hindi din nila kabisado yung papunta ng airport. So after my friends left, I then proceeded to Ecoland Bus Terminal to catch the night trip to Surigao City and then from Surigao City, I’ll continue my travel to Leyte, Samar and then to Camarines Sur. There’s one thing that caught my attention sa Ecoland Terminal sa Davao City. There are folding beds for rent for as low as 20 pesos and that is probably the cheapest accommodation na nakita ko.heheheh! Well, for security, hindi naman nakakatakot because for me, Davao City is one of the safest city that I’ve ever been to. It is one of the best city in the Philippines so kung matutulog ka man sa bus terminal you don’t need to worry about security.

And for me, I’ll still need to travel for 2 days to reach Camarines Sur, my home province. I’ll still need to pass 9 provinces, ride 2 RORO or ferry, and travel more than a thousand kilometers to reach Camarines Sur. Ikwento ko na lang ito next time. That’s it pansit pusit sulit! Byes!

This blog entry is part of my June Travel Series for CARAGA Region and some parts of Eastern Visayas Region.
